Couriers for Automatic Content Import

A Courier connects to a cloud service to automatically import media items from that cloud service to Korbyt

Using courier rules, you can sync content from a cloud service such as Google Drive or OneDrive to your Korbyt Media Manager for storage.

This allows users to add or remove content from the Media Library without ever logging in to the Korbyt Anywhere platform. This copies the item into Korbyt; you can then use a Clever Playlist to automatically send that content to a screen, if you choose.

Services Couriers can Connect To

You can set up courier rules for the following cloud services:

  • Google Drive

  • Microsoft OneDrive

  • Dropbox

  • Box

  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

When the courier is created, it uses your individual user credentials/password for the service. If your password changes you will need to update the Courier to the new password

To Enable Couriers within your Service:

  • Click the Gear icon in the upper right to open the tenant settings

  • Scroll down to the Courier Settings section and enable the couriers you would like to be available.

    • The Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) requires additional information in the Settings screen

      • Users' credentials for a person who has access to your AEM content

      • The URL for the URL Endpoint to access the AEM API is used to access content from your AEM Instance

  • Click Save in the upper right to lock in your changes.

Courier Notifications

In the settings, you can also turn on Courier Notifications.

Toggling Courier Notifications to ON will allow you to then select user groups who should be notified if Couriers experience errors.

To Add a Courier Rule:

  • Click the Mega Menu icon and in the Content column, click on Couriers.

  • Click Add Courier

  • The Add Courier dialog will open

  • In the Rule Name field, enter a name for your courier rule.

  • In the Tags field, enter any tags that you would like to add to the synced content.

  • Select a destination folder where your synced files will be stored within the Media Library.

  • From the Courier Type section, click the corresponding button for the cloud service where your files are hosted.
Be sure to enable pop-ups within your browser settings. If pop-ups aren’t enabled, you can click the ‘Popups blocked’ symbol that will display to the right of your URL bar and select Always allow pop-ups from Korbyt.

  • Sign in to the cloud service using the account that has access to the desired folder.

  • Click the folder that you want to sync with the Media Library.
The Drive Folder field will auto-populate with the name of the selected folder.

  • From the Update drop-down, select how often you would like the courier to check the service

    • The Interval options are every 30 minutes, hourly, or daily

  • If you would like to sync files that are hosted within the folder’s subfolders, select the Include Subfolders checkbox.

  • Click Save.

Courier Behavior

When the Courier runs,

  • Items that are new in the Cloud Storage (a new photo in OneDrive) will be copied into the Korbyt Media Manager

  • Items that have been deleted from the Cloud Storage (photo deleted from OneDrive for example) will have the matching item deleted from the Korbyt Media Manager

  • Only document types supported by Korbyt will be copied through the Courier process

    • Supported Media Specification

    • PDFs and PPTs will not go through the automated transcoding to PNG image files process that they would go through if manually added

Couriers and Automation to Screens

The courier alone copies items to the Korbyt Media Manager. If you wish this content to be automatically displayed on the screen, you can create a Clever Playlist that searches for content in the specific folder or tag the Courier is tied to.
