A

  • Agent or Korbyt Agent

    • The Korbyt Signage Application, when installed onto hardware, so that it can act as a Korbyt Media Player

  • API, aka Application Programming Interface

    • A set of rules and protocols that allow different software applications to communicate and share data with one another.

    • Korbyt uses other systems APIs to operate features such as Couriers and Data Adapters

    • Access to Korbyt’s APIs is a subscription-based feature

    Aries

    • A series of Korbyt Digital Appliance (KDA) Media Players

    • Includes Aries I, Aries II, and Aries III

  • Asset Manager

    • A system in Korbyt that allows a user to search for any items in the CMS by their tag information

  • Assignements

    • A section of the CMS where Desktop Messages are programmed to specific Desktop Audiences

  • Audiences

    • An organization of End Users of the Desktop and, Mobile & Web systems

    • Controlled and set by CMS users who are at an Approver level or higher

    • Used to have targeted content that is specific to a group of people

    • The Global Audience is an available default that will show communications to all users

  • Audit Trail

    • A specific report in the Reports section that details all system activity

  • BrightSign

    • A manufacturer of signage media devices

    • There are several models of BrightSign media players that are compatible with Korbyt

C

  • Clever Playlist

    • An advanced playlist that has the ability to set dynamic instructions for the selection of content

    • The preferred type of playlist to use whenever a media player is running software version 2.0 or higher

  • Cloud or Cloud Implementation

    • Having your entire Korbyt service hosted in the cloud.

    • One of the three hosting options, the others are Hybrid and On-Prem

  • CMS or Content Management System

    • The Korbyt management portal, accessed through your web browser

    • used to control all Korbyt systems

  • CMS Users and CMS User Roles

  • Courier

    • A system in Korbyt that allows a CMS user to create content retrieval routines from web-based content repositories.

    • Couriers support integration with Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, and Box.

    • Couriers automatically drop content files (images or videos) into the Korbyt Media Library.

  • Dashbaord

    • The homescreen of the CMS that provides high-level information about the tenant

  • Data Adapter

    • A specific set of instructions written to connect Korbyt to some external data or information source

    • A tenant can have multiple Data Adapters

  • Data Integration

    • The section of the CMS where you can view and create Data Adapters

  • Data Subscription

    • The connection in a specific Layout or Message to retrieve and then display information that is being provided by Data Adapters

  • Desktop aka InView

    • A system that allows Messages to be programmed to display through an application running on a Windows Computer

  • Directories

    • The section of the Korbyt CMS where administrators configure SSO (Single Sign On) settings

  • Draft

    • A status of media indicated it is not yet ready/approved to be seen on screen

    • The opposite of Draft is Published

E

  • ECA or Employee Communication Application

    • A system that allows a company to create an internal platform for the sharing of news and updates

    • Korbyts ECA application is also called Korbyt Mobile & Web

  • Elements

  • End Users, or Users

    • Individuals who do not have access to the CMS, but log into either the Desktop application or the Mobile & Web service to consume the content that has been assigned

  • InView aka Desktop

    • The older name for the Desktop service

    • A system that allows Messages to be programmed to display through an application running on a Windows Computer

  • Interrupt

K

  • KDA or Korbyt Digital Appliance

    • a purpose-built and branded Korbyt media player

    • Can include different devices and device operating systems

  • KWP or Korbyt Windows Player

  • Kiosk Builder

    • A system in the Korbyt CMS that is used to bind multiple Layouts together and create navigation instructions so that they operate as an interactive kiosk

  • Korbyt Anywhere

    • The Android and Apple App that connects a user to their organization’s Mobile & Web feed

  • Korbyt Create AI

    • A feature in Korbyt that allows users to generate new signage layouts using an AI prompt

  • Launchpad

  • Layout

    • A piece of content created in Korbyt, either by hand or through one of the templated workflows

  • LEO

    • A specific model of KDA

M

  • Media Manager

    • A section of Korbyt where Images, videos, and other documents are stored

    • Also, the name of a CMS user role

  • Media Player

    • Refers to a piece of hardware acting as a Korbyt

  • Messages

    • A piece of content created in Korbyt using the Builder Tool and designed specifically for use through the Desktop(InView) application

  • Metadata

    • In general, it is “data that provides information about other data.”

    • In Korbyt, metadata refers to the information that a Media Player knows about itself (Address, Room, Floor, ect) that can then be used to evaluate instructions from Playlists or Player Groups

  • Mobile & Web

    • A Korbyt service that creates a managed internal Newsfeed of content for members of the organization to see and interact with

    • The system also included the ability to create resources, have individuals contribute content directly, and have email-based newsletters distributed

  • Newsfeed

    • The scroll of content seen when a user logs into their organization’s Mobile & Web system

O

  • On-Target

    • A subscription service that delivers screen-ready content feeds, including weather, news, traffic, or social media

P

  • Players

  • Player Groups

    • The section of Korbyt CMS where you can bundle multiple players together, allowing for programming content to the group, or managing user access

  • Playlist

    • The instructions for what should play on screen, and which media players should show them

    • They can contain Images, Videos, and Layouts that are selected by hand or that are selected through Clever Rules

  • Posts

    • The items added to the Mobile & Web newsfeed of content

  • Provision

    • The act of connecting a Media Player to your Korbyt tenant

  • Published

    • A media status indicating it is ready/approved to be seen on screen.

    • It does not mean that it IS being seen, it is Playlist instructions that make specific Published items seen

    • The opposite of Published is Draft

  • PWA or Progressive Web Application

    • A website built with standard web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) that functions like a native Korbyt Media Player

    • Often deployed onto Hardware that does not have the capability of installing a specific separate client application

  • Scriptlet

    • A small coded instruction loaded to a Korbyt Media Player to allow users to create external data integrations or specific events at the player level

  • Service Catalog

    • The section of the Korbyt CMS that shows the Korbyt API commands available

    • Access to the Service Catalog is a subscription-based service

  • Sonar

    • A subscription service in Korbyt that allows content to be displayed through a URL instead of to a defined Media Player

  • Surveys

    • A system in Korbyt for creating and sending surveys

    • Question types include multiple choice, True/False, Text Area, and Numeric Scale.

    • Surveys can be added to interactive Signage or assigned to end users through the Desktop, and Mobile & Web systems

  • Tag

    • Information added to content, players, users, or other items in Korbyt

    • Can be used to automate specific instructions or behaviors, such as in a Playlist looking for Images with a specific tag, or create a group of players based on the tag they are assigned

  • Tenant

    • A client’s specific section of the Korbyt service containing all your content, equipment, and users

  • Urgent Alert

    • A system in Korbyt where messages can be created in advance and then activated to take over the screen in different emergency scenarios

  • Users

    • The section of the CMS where the individuals who can log into the Desktop, Mobile & Web systems are managed

    • Also, a way to refer to the individuals (End Users) who do not have access to the CMS, but log into either the Desktop application or the Mobile & Web service to consume the content that has been assigned

  • User Group

    • A set group of CMS users created by administrators or through SSO integration

    • Used to define access permission to folders and Player Groups
