NOTE: This is currently only supported for MTR Windows devices. Please keep an eye on Microsoft roadmap for updates!
This article explains how to configure Korbyt Anywhere as a digital signage source within Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) using the platform’s built-in digital signage mode.
By setting up your MTR devices with a Korbyt Player, you can display scheduled content such as corporate messages, dashboards, alerts, and other visual communications whenever a room is idle. This allows organizations to maximize the value of their meeting spaces and deliver consistent messaging across their environment.
Benefits of Using Korbyt Anywhere in Teams Rooms
Utilize Idle Screens: Maximize the value of MTR hardware by displaying content when not in use for meetings.
Streamlined Content Management: Centrally manage and schedule signage through Korbyt’s intuitive CMS.
Custom Messaging: Share timely updates, employee communications, safety information, and brand visuals.
Enterprise Ready: Support for scalable, bulk provisioning across multiple Teams Rooms.
Prerequisites
To successfully configure Korbyt Anywhere as a digital signage source in MTR, ensure the following:
Teams Rooms on Windows version 5.1 or later installed on your Teams Rooms on Windows devices
Teams Rooms Pro license assigned to resource accounts signed in to your Teams Rooms on Windows devices
Teams Rooms Pro Management portal access for device configuration and management
Active Korbyt Anywhere account
MAC address of the MTR device(s)
MTR is able to reach your Korbyt tenant (e.g., https://yoursubdomain.korbyt.com)
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Assign Digital Signage Permissions
Before enabling digital signage, ensure the appropriate roles are assigned in the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal:
Digital Signage Tenant Management: Allows enabling signage for the tenant and adding signage sources.
Digital Signage Room Management: Allows assigning signage sources to rooms or room groups.
Microsoft 365 Global Admins and Teams Rooms Pro Managers have these roles by default. Custom roles can also be configured.
Step 2: Enable Digital Signage for Your Tenant
Sign in to the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal. (https://portal.rooms.microsoft.com/)
Navigate to Settings > Digital signage.
On the Tenant Management page, toggle On the setting for Digital signage.
This enables digital signage capabilities across your tenant and allows room-level configuration.
Step 3: Add Korbyt as a Signage Source
While still in Settings > Digital signage, click Add source.
Choose Web URL as the signage source type.
Name the signage source (e.g., “Korbyt Player - Conf Room 1”).
Select Custom and Enter your Korbyt Anywhere signage URL, formatted with your tenant subdomain and the MAC address of the MTR device (no colons). For example: “https://yourcompany.korbyt.com/pwa?mac=001A2B3C4D5E&d=msteams”
note: you must include the last parameter “d=msteams” to indicate device type, in order for content to play back as expected.
Replace:
yourcompany with your Korbyt tenant subdomain
001A2B3C4D5E with the MAC address of the MTR device (no colons or separators)
Finalize the steps and save the signage source.
Note: Automatic device Mac address recognition will be supported in the future
Step 4: Assign the Korbyt Signage Source to Rooms
Go to the Rooms tab in the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal.
Select the desired room or room group.
Navigate to Settings > Digital signage.
Enable digital signage for that room.
Choose the previously added Korbyt signage source.
Set the Idle timeout (in minutes) after which the signage will be displayed when the room is inactive.
Save your changes.
Once configured, the Teams Room device will begin displaying your Korbyt content after the set idle period.
